| Biofiltration is a
biological filtration process where the biomass is
fixed on a granulated support that lets the biodegradable
fraction in the waste water be treated and the suspended
material to be retained at the same time.
The biofiltration system that is described uses
expanded clay, with a low grain size (millimetres),
as filtering material with the flow of waste water
rising.
